In The Halls

My first short film, shot and directed by Dakota Morrill, Lewis Roberts, Quinlan Kirk, Felix Hartman, and Richard Hague. Edited by Dakota Morrill. Shot on a DSLR Nikon 4100 with the goals of using compositional elements and exploring editing techniques.

Original plans were scrapped due to weather conditions and most of the shots were improvised as we divided shots between 5 of us for the assignment. All the footage was pulled together and I had to get some extra establishing shots to create a story in post.

Gloves Off

A short film shot based off of the following stimulus:

Imagine that you are a man. You have gone back to your office at the end of the day, tired out. You’re just sitting there, staring, so still that a young typist doesn’t notice you as she enters the room. She takes off her gloves and empties her purse on the table. She has two pound coins, a twenty pence piece, and a matchbox. She puts the money back in her purse, and she goes over to the bin and tosses in her black gloves. She uses the last match to set light to them. She watches the gloves burn. The phone rings. She picks it up it up, listens, and replies, “I’ve never owned any black gloves in my life.” She goes back to the bin and then realises that you are watching her. 

Energetic Fashion Ad

Planned, shot, edited and directed by Dakota Morrill as a means of further advancing editing skills and camerawork as well as working with minimal control of set/actors.

This second ad was shot with the intent of creating something a bit more youthful and energetic similar to many of the more mainstream fashion commercials.

Unofficial Sheffield College Film & Photography Access Course Ad

I shot this as a fun way to combine my assignment requiring documentary aspects with footage I had passively shot throughout the one year of my Access Film & Photography course at the Sheffield College in 2022/2023.
